About
Welcome to Clwydian Walking Holidays. We specialise in accompanied walking tours of the Clwydian range, which forms a 35 km north-south chain of undulating hills extending to 160 sq.km and rising to 554 metres at the summit of Moel Famau in the centre of the area. The hills stretch from the beautiful Vale of Clwyd in the west to the foothills at the Dee Estuary in the east: from Prestatyn Hillside in the north to the Nant-Y-Garth pass in the south.
In 1985 this was designated by the European Community as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Vale of Clwyd offers open heather moorland dominating small hedged fields and coppice woodland on the lower slopes. In places, limestone rock outcrops are exposed in attractive wooded escarpments and on the fringes of the area highly fertile farmland gives a soft pastoral foreground to the hills, with the Offa's Dyke National Trail following the entire length of the ridge crest.
Experience the traditional atmosphere of Welsh villages, tea rooms, craft centres, allied to the history of the area with evidence of Bronze Age people, through the Roman, Dark Age and Medieval period to the Post Medieval Period.
We will collect you from your point of arrival (airport/station) and take you to settle in to your comfortable accommodation at Oriel House Hotel in St Asaph with its spa and health club, or if you prefer, accommodation based in the historical villages of the Vale of Clwyd. All your transportation needs will be catered for, as our own transport will take you to and from your walks and other destinations.
You will be led on your walk by an experienced guide who has local knowledge.
