Are you a dog owner planning a beach trip in North Wales? It's important to be aware of the various regulations in place across some of the beaches to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all beachgoers.
On this page, you will find detailed information about dog restrictions to help you make the most of your beach outings with your furry friend in North Wales.
When Do Dog Restrictions Apply?
Restrictions apply on some North Wales beaches from 1st May to 30th September each year. The ban area will be clearly signposted at each beach. There are many beaches in North Wales and areas on most beaches even with restrictions where dogs are welcome all year round.

Dog Restrictions on Beaches in Anglesey
Despite restrictions, some areas of the following beaches do allow dogs all year round:
- Beaumaris
- Benllech
- Cemaes Bay
- Llanddwyn, Newborough
- Llanddona
- Porth Dafarch
- Trearddur Bay

Dog Restrictions on Beaches in Conwy
- Rhos on Sea Beach (between Rhos Point and the eastern end of the Cayley Promenade)
- Colwyn Bay Beach (between the Victoria Pier and the entrance to Eirias Park)
- Pensarn Beach (between the embedded wooden posts by the café and the embedded concrete posts at the western end of the promenade)
- Kinmel Bay Beach (between Dinas Avenue, Kinmel Bay and Sandbank Road Towyn)
- Llandudno North Shore Beach (from Llandudno Pier to Clarence Road)
- Llandudno West Shore Beach (between the two stone groynes)
- Penmaenmawr Beach (from the east side of the café to the sailing club slipway)
- Llanfairfechan Beach (between the 2 slipways extending down from the promenade to the Low Water Mark)
Dog Restrictions on Beaches in Denbighshire
- The beach areas from Sydenham Avenue, Rhyl eastwards, to Old Golf Road in Rhyl
- All beach areas from Ffrith Festival Gardens, Prestatyn eastwards, to Prestatyn Sailing Club, Barkby Beach, Prestatyn
