  • Indoor Attraction - The tour of the mines is self–guided. We recommend that you wear sensible flat shoes. The route through the mine is approximately 200 metres. There are 35 steps going down into the mine and the same number coming back up. In addition, there are a number of sloping tunnels.
  • Outdoor Attraction - As part of the attraction involves a surface walk, we recommend a jacket / waterproof.

Road Directions

Great Orme Mines is well signposted from the A55 and other approach roads into Llandudno.

Follow signs for Llandudno until you see the brown “Ancient Mine” and mine symbol signs.

If you are following SatNav please note some SatNavs may take you the wrong way when driving up the Great Orme. When approaching our site, don't turn down St Beuno's Road, but keep heading upwards until you see our sign on the left.

Public Transport Directions

If coming by car we have free on site parking for mine and gift shop visitors.

The Alpine Great Orme Explorer bus - departing from the pier (from 10am until 5pm, leaving upto every 30 minutes) stops immediately outside Great Orme Mines. 

The Great Orme Tramway - catch the tram at Victoria Station on Church Wallks and alight at the Halfway Station.  Following the signs marked "Copper Mine" (heading towards the summit) for a five minute walk. Our site will be on the left.

The Arriva number 26 bus towards Tyn-y-Coed - this can be caught opposite The Palladium (Wetherspoons). Alight at the Tyn-y-Coed bus stop and follow the road and signs for Great Orme Mines up the hill for a 15 minute walk.

The Cable Car - this will take you from Happy Valley to the Summit.  On arrival at the summit follow the road down the hill on a 15 minute walk until you see our sign. Our site will be on the right (Please note, the Cable Car is weather dependent and cash only).  

There are also a number of taxi companies that you can call from Llandudno, including Alliance (01492 87 87 87).
