About
EVENT DATE – 10th May 2025
This is my favourite route up Snowdon!
The South Ridge Route is a quieter, more scenic alternative to the popular paths, with breathtaking views and a sense of adventure, perfect for those, like me, seeking a more peaceful journey to the summit.
Route Overview:
Distance: 7 miles (11 km) round trip
Ascent: 900m
Time: 6-7 hours
Difficulty: Hard Route Description:
We'll start our adventure from Nant Gwynant or the Rhyd Ddu car park, following the Rhyd Ddu Path before branching onto the quieter South Ridge. As we climb, we'll enjoy stunning views of Llyn Llydaw, Llyn Glaslyn, and the surrounding valleys. The highlight of the route is Bwlch Main, an exhilarating ridge with sweeping panoramas that leads us to the summit of Snowdon.
⛰️ Highlights:
A peaceful, less-traveled route with breathtaking scenery
The thrill of crossing Bwlch Main before reaching the summit
A rewarding experience with a knowledgeable guide by your side

⚠️ Good to Know:
The ridge can feel exposed (although there is a path option below it if you prefer to avoid it) and there are a couple of scrambling section to pass on the way to summit. I will guide you through it all however it is important you are aware of the type of route we will adventure on.
Proper footwear and layers are essential, as mountain weather can change quickly.
